Little Touches Here & There

If you haven't already noticed, I'm crazy for Halloween :)

These are silver glass pumpkins I bought at the TJ Maxx in Houston back in September, but this orange pumpkin is a real one from the patch. If you look in the pic below you will see a creepy black spider hanging out on the sofa. He is supposed to be hanging out on the window seat, but the cat sleeps there, so I moved him temporarily.

Aaaaawwww...I just love the way this coffee table display came out!

I had originally put my cloche away for fall, but I love it so much I had to get it out again and find a way to fit it into my fall decor. It looks cute with this little pumpkin I helped Arden decorate with stickers...

Lastly, this is a scented broom (vanilla cappucino scent) which I had to decorate for Halloween, it's making my living room smell WONDERFUL!

Little touches of Halloween here and there, and more to come tomorrow!

Busy "BOO!"

What a busy weekend we had! Friday morning Arden and I had her babies music class, and then we went back to the pumpkin patch to get a few more pumpkins for our backyard.

Saturday afternoon we went to a Birthday Party for one of Arden's little friends.
There was a mini-car at the party which Arden loved playing with. I think we may have to get one of these for our house.

Later that same day we had a Halloween Potluck with my family. I was so busy visiting with everyone and making sure everyone had enough to eat, that I only had time to take this one picture. Next year I will take remember to take pictures of the people, and not just the decorations!

4 days till Trick or Treat!!

Fall China Cabinet

This china cabinet is an antique we bought in Comfort, Texas a few years ago. I saw it on a trip with my Mom and then took Andy back for him to take a look at it. I didn't think Andy liked it at first, but after a few minutes of inspecting it, he said, "I'm going to make an offer". I said, "OK", but inside I was thinking, "WooooHoooo!! Yes!!! Yay!!! Yipee!!!" Needless to say, it has sentimental value.

This is the first time I've decorated it for fall, and I'm so happy with how it turned it out. It was a very busy weekend for everyone at Little Bird Cottage, hopefully I will have time to blog about it tomorrow. Hope everyone had a great one!

Pumpkin Patch Fun

She's not quite sure what to think about sitting on this rickety old wagon.
I'm still mad at that lady for cutting her bangs so short. Grrrr....
Go out and pick your Pumpkin!!!

A Cottage Tree Returns!

Remember when the tree in our front yard died? (sniffle, sniffle, wipe tears) Well, I'm happy to say that our new tree arrived today and it's a beauty! If you'll look in the picture above you'll notice our hedges are uneven. That's because we also had to replace several shrubs that kicked the bucket. (more tears, long sigh) It was a tough summer for my front yard.

We decided to let a professional garden service put the tree in because they offered a one year warranty on it. It's a good thing to, because they had an awful time removing the old tree's roots and stump. One of the guys was pulling so hard with a pick ax, he actually fell backwards!

No one was hurt though, and besides the chaos of the phone constantly ringing (why does the phone always ring when this kind of stuff is happening?), the dog getting out the front door and almost running down the street, and Arden constantly going up to the gardeners and SHOUTING "hi" as loud as she possibley could, everything turned out nicely.
Did I mention she also kept going up to the front window and KNOCKING on it to get everyone's attention? Arden that is, not the dog. She was inside knocking on the window like she was knocking on a door. I didn't even know she knew how to do that. I don't know where she gets these ideas from! Anyway, life is so much better with a tree in your front yard. Even when you live in an almost but-not-quite cookie cutter neighborhood.

I made this Halloween banner over the weekend. It's the first banner I've ever made and I was so happy with it I decided to go ahead and post a quick pic. I will be posting pics of all my Halloween decorating soon. I heart Halloween!
Look who is growing up to fast...
Arden says, "HI"

And Blue all over...

The weather was dark and gloomy here today which made it pretty dark in my house, which made me feel very UNinspired to post something fun. Then I remembered the "Shades of Inspiration" theme some of my favorite bloggers participated in over the summer. Looking around, I saw a 'theme' start to pop out all around me. When did I become a "blue" girl? As you'll see below, I'm clearly a "rabbit" girl, but I suppose over time I've evolved into a "blue" girl also...

I think these large vases were my inspiration for turning into a "blue" girl. They actually have special meaning to me, since they belonged to Andy's mom before she passed away 12 years ago. I know it means alot to him to have them in our house. I'm very fond of them...

It's so interesting to think that she probably never imagined these vases would be displayed in her youngest son's "Cottage Kitchen". But we love them, and they pair wonderfully with our white cabinets, I can't imagine having anything else up there.
Can you tell this tassel is blue? It's robin's egg blue!

Helloooo? How could I not have realized it? I'm practically blue all over!
I don't think I've ever put a picture on here of just Andy and I together. Well, there's a first time for everything...here we are celebrating my 30th birthday on Friday night...

I'm not sure when we'll be alone again, so I better post this for the world wide web to see, it's proof: there really is life after baby! Have a great day.

Angela
