TTYL,
Angela
I know, i'm a BAD blogger! I haven't had ANY time for posting any wonderful, creative, or inspirational blogs because i've been BUSY chasing around an angel faced 10 month old who hasn't been very ANGELIC lately. I actually caught myself turning my voice into one of those STERN and STRICT "motherly" voices i used hear mom's in the grocery store use. I actually used the 'first and last name combination' today. SCARY!
Is it really Friday already? The weeks fly by so fast when you have a little one. Every day is the same, but different. I can barely remember what we did this week, but I know we were busy, busy, busy. I have several "projects" I would like to finish in the month of April. The first one was organizing my home accessories/craft closet. I have already finished that, but I will not be posting any pics...it's boring and compared to some of the organzing afficianados I have seen on blogger, let's just say I have nothing to brag about. Projects 2 and 3 are: painting my guest bathroom, or as I like to call it; the smallest bathroom known to man, and painting the interior of my china cabinet. I will post before and after pics of both as soon as I knock these out. I have been wanting to do both of these for a long time, but was very concerned about paint fumes affecting Arden. Benjamin Moore has come out with a paint that has no fumes, which I plan on inquiring about during a trip to Lowe's this weekend. My final project will be organizing my pantry/laundry room, which if I get this far on the list I will be well deserving of a mani/pedi and facial...maybe a massage. Hint, Hint to the "man in my life" who is reading this...and I'm not talking about my Shit-Zu, Charlie :)

So, just between you and me, Little Bird Cottage is only 3 years old. No, it's not an antique cottage with centuries of history, in a quaint little town full of antique shops and B&B's. It's more like an almost-but-not-quite cookie cutter style house in an over-developed subdivision. Oh well, it's home to me! Regardless, it's cottage to us, and we love it. All that being said, I think Andy and I have done a pretty good job in the landscaping department in our short time here. These are pictures of our backyard garden which we just developed last year around this time. Each of these plants is only a year old!!!!
This is the back section of our yard which was originally nothing but half dead golf course grass. Last year we planted 5 trees (two pear trees & 3 crepe mertyles) and a number of plants, along with sodding and mulching the entire area. We also stained our fence. Well, hehehehe, I say "WE", but all the credit actually goes to Andy bcs I was pregnant and he wouldn't let me do anything (what a gentleman!). I drew the diagram for the landscape plan and "supervised", which everyone knows is my favorite job, and one that I do VERY well!
Since we live in South Texas we are limited to planting things that are extremely heat and drought tolerant like Asparagus Fern, Rosemary, Slavia, and Lantana. I currently have absolutely NO shade in my backyard, so my dreams of topiaries and hydrangeas will have to wait until we move to a different house. Not everything is blooming yet, but when it is I will be sure to post more pics of our young garden.
